curriculum, focusing on core subjects that create a strong
foundation for life-long learning. - The school will require school uniforms and emphasize
good character. - The school will offer a longer school day.
- The school will offer single-sex instructional model.
- The school will provide a well-rounded education that uses
leadership and character development to promote
excellence in all areas. - The school believes that every child is a developing leader
waiting to be fostered and capable of high academic

At Southwest Leadership Academy, our goal is to educate and encourage our students
by showing them their innate importance and possibility through leadership and
character development, service- learning, civic engagement, moral skill building
and career education. Additionally, our single-gender instructional approach is modeled
after the top private and parochial schools in the nation, giving our children the edge they
need to succeed academically.
SLA will produce the next generation of Southwest Philadelphia leaders. We will
build leaders one child at a time by empowering students to view themselves as agents
of change and furnishing them with the leadership skills, character development and
academic proficiencies needed to make an impact on their lives and in their
communities.
SLA will partner with Victory Schools (www.victoryschools.com), one of the nation’s
leading operators of charter schools and a strong partner to the School District of
Philadelphia. Through highly trained and motivated teachers, SLA will offer students a
standards-based, research proven curriculum focusing on core subjects that will
create a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
